How It Works
- Pre-Thickener: The integrated rotary drum with an Archimedean screw performs the initial solid/liquid separation, increasing sludge solids concentration from 0.5-3% to 5-15%.
- Dewatering Process: The belt filter press features three distinct pressure zones for optimal dewatering:Low-Pressure Zone
Middle-Pressure Zone (Wedge Zone)
High-Pressure Zone, where the sludge cake is compressed between the perforated cylinder cloth and the main cloth.
The result is a discharged sludge cake with a dry solids content of 18-30%, depending on the sludge type.

The pre-thickener rotary drum, equipped with an Archimedean screw, efficiently performs the initial solid/liquid separation process. This step significantly reduces the hydraulic load fed into the belt filter press, enhancing overall efficiency. Thanks to this design, the unit can effectively handle sludge with very low suspended solids concentrations, ranging from 0.5% to 1%.
The thickened sludge, now typically concentrated to 5-15%, is fed into the Low Pressure Draining Zone, where it is evenly distributed across the full width of the cloth. In this stage, the sludge is gently compressed using three adjustable baffles and two breaker combs, ensuring an even and efficient dewatering process.
In the final stages, the sludge moves into the Wedge Zone, where it undergoes a gradual increase in pressure. Following this, the sludge enters the Maximum Pressure Zone, where it is tightly compressed between the main filter cloth and the secondary filter cloth lining the perforated cylinder. This ensures maximum dewatering efficiency and a high-quality sludge cake.
At the exit of the Monobelt®, depending on the sludge characteristics, it is possible to achieve Dry Solids concentrations ranging from 18% to 30% or higher. This ensures an efficient dewatering process tailored to various sludge types.

The Monobelt® system features a unique design where only one of the two belts is “under traction,” giving the unit its distinctive name. This innovation allows the use of an endless belt, eliminating the need for joining zippers or clips—common weak points in traditional belt filter presses. This characteristic simplifies the unit’s operation and significantly improves the reliability of the belt drive system.
The filter cloths are maintained in optimal condition with an automatic washing system equipped with specially designed Teknofanghi spray nozzles. These nozzles consume significantly less water compared to standard options on the market. For added convenience, the nozzles are designed for easy removal, cleaning, and replacement without the need for any tools, ensuring rapid maintenance and uninterrupted performance.
The Monobelt® units come fully equipped with a control panel mounted directly on the unit and an integrated washing pump. This ensures a complete plug-and-play system, ready to operate immediately without requiring any additional assembly or setup.
